IMPACT 2024 , held on May 9th 2024 in Australia, brought together nearly 600 in-person and virtual delegates to participate in a groundbreaking event focused on disability confidence, inclusion, and employment.

Given the audience's diverse needs, the event platform needed to deliver an inclusive, seamless experience—ensuring that no attendee was left behind with the ability to participate fully, whether they attended virtually or on-site.

Challenges

For many attendees, this was their first time experiencing accessibility features in a hybrid event. That meant making sure every attendee, regardless of their physical abilities or location, could participate without any barriers.

The main aim was to deliver an event that made people feel connected, valued, and part of something bigger. The event team knew they had to get this right, and they did.

Solutions

For IMPACT 2024, accessibility was a top priority. A suite of accessibility features enabled attendees to fully engage with the event’s rich content regardless of location or physical ability. This ensured that in-person and virtual attendees could easily navigate the platform, attend sessions, and participate in discussions.

Every attendee had the opportunity to join sessions, access materials, and connect with international speakers and peers—whether they were joining from home or at the venue. For delegates with mobility challenges or other special needs, the ability to attend virtually was a game changer, allowing them to be part of the action in real-time.

The event brought together esteemed international speakers, including Professor Maria Soledad Cisternas Reyes, Randy Lewis, Caroline Casey, and Jenny Lay-Flurrie, alongside engaging sessions on critical topics such as disability employment targets, accessibility in technology, and global inclusion priorities. Attendees, whether joining in person or virtually, were able to experience and participate in these sessions fully, ensuring no one missed out on the valuable insights shared.

The event also provided opportunities for meaningful networking through live Q&A sessions, networking rooms, and real-time chat, allowing participants to connect with peers and industry leaders regardless of their location.
