Artificial intelligence is increasingly shaping hiring decisions across Europe — but what happens when AI systems reflect or reinforce the very biases we seek to eliminate?
This event brings together researchers, technologists, and practitioners working at the cutting edge of responsible AI in recruitment. Drawing on the work of the BIAS project — a Horizon Europe-funded (Grant agreement ID: 101070468) initiative combining technical, social science, and legal perspectives — the session will explore how bias in AI and large language models can be detected, measured, and mitigated in real-world HR applications and provide concrete capacity building tools.
Attendees will see a live demonstration of an agentic recruitment platform developed as a proof-of-concept, gain insight into the latest technical developments in bias detection and mitigation across multiple European languages. Furthermore, the BIAS a free, self-paced and certified e-learning course will be introduced: the course is designed to build capacity across a wide range of professional profiles and it is can be a useful tool for employers/organizations to comply with the AI Act regulatory requirements on fostering AI literacy of employees, at least as far as HR/IT staff and Trade Unions representatives are concerned.
