Twinning & Best Practices: Expanding the Network of European Blue Schools
03/26/2026
About
This session will explore how twinning and the sharing of best practices can help grow and strengthen the Network of European Blue Schools across Europe. Participants will hear from three complementary EU-funded initiatives—SHORE, BlueLightS, and ProBleu—each contributing practical tools, training, and opportunities that support schools in embedding blue education and ocean literacy into everyday teaching and learning.
The event will highlight how these initiatives connect and reinforce one another: from teacher training and structured online courses, to hands-on citizen science activities that bring students closer to real-world ocean and water challenges. Together, they offer a coherent pathway for schools that are new to blue education as well as for those looking to deepen their engagement, partner with peers, and scale their impact through twinning.
Join us to:
  • Discover how the Network of European Blue Schools supports collaboration, twinning, and the exchange of proven approaches across countries and school communities.
  • Learn how teachers can build confidence and skills through SHORE’s training for blue education and the BlueLightS online course on ocean literacy.
  • Explore how ProBleu links education with citizen science, enabling students and schools to contribute to meaningful data collection and local action.
  • Hear practical examples of what works in schools and how to adapt ideas to different curricula, age groups, and contexts.
